Christmas 2009

Ok, so in theory the family blog is a great idea, but in reality finding the time to sit down and update it is hard.  But I am going to try to do better!

My last post was the beginning of December and alot has happened!  Georgia Blair had a wonderful Christmas and got lots of presents, which she really loved!

The Scott Family Christmas- We celebrated Christmas with Casey's family a week early because Pa was in for two weeks from Kabul.  We woke up to a white Christmas on the 19th and had a very good time opening presents and spending time with the family.  Georgia Blair got a Cozy Coupe, Gas Pump and Pony (not real, although that wouldn't surprise me! :)  among alot of other things!

The Faulkner Family Christmas- We celebrated Christmas Eve in Lexington this year so Santa could bring presents to our house.  Mom and Dad came up and we had dinner at Missy and Chad's.  Then we had Chrismas Day breakfast at our house before heading south to Gran's house for MORE presents!  Grammy and Grandad got her a laundry center and lots of other toys, which she loved.  She thinks she is big stuff!

Finally, this year was the first year that Santa came to our house!  Georgia Blair was so excited.  And Casey and I enjoyed starting our family Christmas traditions with her!  For example, we left Santa cheese crackers and juice instead of cookies and milk!.  Little things like that make my heart melt!

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

December is finally here, and you know what that means- Christmas!  It is my FAVORITE time of the year.  Our decorations are up and shopping is almost complete.  We will have a busy month of traveling, but that goes along with it and we are very excited to spend time with the family.

Georgia Blair is showing more and more personality each day!  I must admit that she may look like me, but she acts just like her daddy- they are two peas in a pod!  They are both strong-willed (which I call hard-headed) and independent,  which has made for a very interesting battle of wills.  With that said, when it comes to GB, Daddy is as soft as they come.  So that leaves me with having to practice the art of patience, alot!  :)

Santa Claus is Coming to Town...
We are trying to read books and show her different pictures of Santa so that she will get used to the idea of him.  We are going to attempt to visit the jolly old man this weekend, so I am curious to see how that goes!  If you ask her what Santa says she will say, "Ho,Ho,Ho- Merry Christmas!"

She's Got the Rhythm...
She LOVES music and she will just sing and sing.  Her latest favorite is "Jingle Bells", with a thick southern accent (which makes it even cuter).  Just like everything else in her life, the mood has to be just right to bust it out.  I have yet to catch it on camera, because as soon as I go get it she has stopped and moved onto something else.  She does a nice rendition of  "Old McDonald" and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" too!

Here are a few recent pics!

Merry Christmas!

So much has happened in the last three weeks so here is a snapshot into our world........

We continued Georgia Blair's birthday celebration in Ohio on Halloween weekend.  Our weekend included 2 year pictures, Trick-or-Treating and more presents for the birthday girl! Miss Georgia Blair has certainly hit the "Terrible Two" stage and it showed while we were attempting to have her two year pictures made.  She threw the biggest fit and well, lets just say we had to make a graceful exit!  After an hour of crying, three beautiful outfits- not used, and money still spent, we walked away with four poses (no smiles) that captured her mood that day perfectly!  Grandma assures me one day I will look back on the moment and laugh, but I am not there yet!

With the "Terrible Two" stage in full swing, one never knows if she will like something or immediately fall apart.  She did, thankfully, enjoy Trick-or Treating!  She dressed up as "Handy Manny".  (She is obsessed with Manny, which is so funny, so Casey decided that it would be the perfect Halloween costume!) She got the hang of the the whole Trick-or Treating thing pretty quickly and made several trips around Grandma and Pa's neighborhood in the golf cart!

Grammy and Grandad bought tickets to see Sesame Street: 123 Imagine! at the Arena in Corbin.  She had the BEST time!  She danced and clapped and took it ALL in!  (We all had an even better time watching her reaction.)  It was definetly money well spent.

To date this is our typical day- happy to "sad" (her new favorite phrase) in 2.5 seconds!

to- AHH, I think I will play with my jewelry!

As the Holidays quickly approach, we will be extra busy! We are looking forward to Thanksgiving (daddy's FAVORITE holiday) in Ohio, Pa's two-week visit from Kabul and, of course, Christmas (momma's FAVORITE holiday) and lots of family time! With a two year old in tow, who knows what is going to happen.....

Mr. Pumpkin becomes Mr. Jack O' Lantern

A couple of weeks ago Georgia Blair brought home a huge pumpkin from "school". I believe it was the largest one she could find! The irony is when we went to the pumpkin patch this past weekend, she picked out the smallest one she could find- go figure! Anyway, we decided that it was time to carve Mr. Pumpkin and make him Mr. Jack O' Lantern. Casey wanted to create a UK pumpkin, but of course I won out and we carved a traditional toothy smile.

If you don't know, Georgia Blair is probably the cleanest child that you will ever meet (i do believe that she is in the early stages of OCD). She picks fuzz off of her blanket and don't worry about keeping your carpet clean, she will clean it for you. With that said, she took one look at the inside and said no, no, no. She didn't want any part of that "mess". So she plopped herself in the chair and watched daddy until it was no longer interesting, then she moved onto better things.

This picture makes me SMILE!

In the end, we put a candle in Mr. Jack O'Lantern and she wasn't all that impressed, but we know that Halloween is almost here!

Happy Birthday, Pumpkin!

Georgia Blair turned 2 on Saturday! It just seems like yesterday, we brought that sweet little pumpkin home.  We celebrated with a fun-filled weekend consisting of  our first trip to Build-A-Bear, sharing an early birthday celebration with the Rodgers and Strongs (it was Elle's 1st birthday), a trip to Evan's Orchard, pumpkin painting and lots of PRESENTS!  I can't believe that my baby is growing up so fast.

The Birthday Girl!

Here are a few things we love about Georgia Blair:
She is OBSESSED with Handy Manny! (She will be "Handy GB" for Halloween :)
She is a picky eater, but LOVES carbs (just like her momma.)
She can count to 13 all by herself and she knows all of her shapes.
She can name just about any animal and what sound it makes.
She has to have blankie, paci, NayNay, Doggie and Cutes wherever she goes.
She is LOVED by more people than we can count!

The Birthday Girls!  Elle Saxon turned 1 and Georgia Blair turned 2.

First trip to Build A Bear!  "Cutes" is the newest member of our family.
